At Everymind, we believe in doing things differently; taking a thoughtful, tailored approach to supporting mental health in the workplace. Recently, we had the privilege of launching the new Supporter network at The Midcounties Co-operative, and even in these early days, the impact is already being felt.
Supporters are actively engaging with the platform, logging conversations, accessing the 1:1 support line, and making full use of the SkillsCentre resources. It’s clear that the network has hit the ground running, and the early success is a testament to the power of setting up the right support from the start.
A new approach for the leading brand
Midcounties Co-op is one of the first organisations to adopt the new Everymind approach. From the very beginning, they have been committed to setting up the network in a way that will ensure its long-term success. This means not only delivering meaningful training, but also providing continuous support, tracking data, and measuring what’s working – and what’s not.
By integrating the Everymind Platform, which provides ongoing support and measuring the impact of mental health initiatives from day one, we’re creating something more sustainable and effective. The network’s engagement is already evident, with members logging conversations on the platform and using the resources from the very start. It’s clear that the foundation for success is set from day one, and the early results show that the approach is working.
The traditional Mental Health First Aid model has been unsuccessful in the workplace, but we’ve revolutionised the approach. By providing real-time support and actionable insights, we’re creating a deeper, more sustained impact on both individuals and the business. And it’s showing in the results so far.
A powerful 1-day training course
Kayleigh Atkinson, Training & Development Lead at Everymind, delivered the Everymind Supporter Training to the Midcounties Co-op Mental Health Champions. Reflecting on the experience, she shared:
I had the absolute pleasure of taking the Midcounties Co-op Mental Health Champions through our Everymind Supporter Training this week. What. A. Day. I was blown away by the passion, drive, and energy in the room from every single one of the delegates who are giving up their time to support their colleagues.
Throughout the day, Kayleigh guided the group through what it means to be a Supporter in the workplace and she also highlighted how Everymind is there to support them every step of the way.
Kayleigh continued, “We went through what it means to be a Supporter in the workplace, the boundaries they need to be safe and ethical, the crucial conversation tools needed to support a colleague, the crisis intervention skills to potentially save lives, and how Everymind are supporting them in their roles every step of the way. I am more than confident that this network of people are going to go on to do amazing things to support their colleagues.”
A strong start, with much more to come
While we’re only just getting started, it already feels like something truly special is building at Midcounties Co-op. The team’s commitment to creating a lasting impact through mental health support is evident, and we’re excited to see the network continue to grow and thrive.
This launch wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication and collaboration of Rebekah Smallwood, Head of Colleague Experience at The Midcounties Co-operative for placing trust and belief in us to bring this vision to life. We also wanted to shout out our very own Jo McDonnell, Wellbeing Business Consultant, for her incredible support in getting the network off the ground.
This is what happens when the right approach is taken. When mental health support is more than just a tick-box exercise, but an integral part of the workplace culture. We can’t wait to see where this journey takes us, and we’re thrilled to be part of it from the very beginning.
